On Friday night, the 18th Wokingham Living Advent
Calendar performance, we enjoyed some choral music from Arborfield Military
Wives Choir.
The Arborfield Military Wives Choir is made up of wives of
serving and former service personnel. They are all amateur singers from a
variety of backgrounds, some haven’t sang in a choir since school days whereas
for others this is their second or third military wives choir. They do not have
to read music or audition – their ethos is to provide a support network for
military wives and their families through our love of singing.
In their words:
“We formed 2 years ago but due to the nature of military life they have ladies joining and leaving quite regularly and are always on the lookout for new members. Our Music Director is Dan Tickner who does a fantastic job bringing out the best in us. We sing songs from the Military Wives Choir repertoire as well as a variety of favourites from across the decades. Through our singing we fundraise for the Military Wives Choir Foundation as well as supporting other charities.”

The venue for this evening was Maison Rustic a homewares
shop in Bush Walk and sister shop to Antique Rose. Proprietor Georgina Hustler
introduced the choir and both shops were open for some late night shopping. Bush
Walk was packed to see the choir and the audience each got a free gift of a
tree decoration.
Tonight we hope you will join us at Broad Street Tavern (who
have just had a refit) for a performance by Woodley Theatre.
